God With Us.
If man should dare to imagine it,
The pen itself would refuse to write
A story so fantastic.
Shekinah glory
Distilled into a glimmer in your eyes.
Once a house of gold –
Now a tent of tender skin.
The face no living man could see
Now bears our face.
The ark no living man could touch
Now bears our form.
The Cherubim that
Once stood guard,
Now bid us enter.
See. Hear. Touch.
The world has lost all sense of reason.
The rules no longer apply.
The God Who Sees
Now blinks with bleary eyes.
The God Who Provides
Now screams for provision
At the breast of a daughter of Eve.
The Living Word
Has lost its language.
The Eternal God
Is today begotten.
The Author of Life
Is wrapped in mortality.
GOD is with us.
The paradise that Adam lost.
The boon for which Moses begged.
The end for which Solomon built.
The treasure that traitors lost.
Here.
Now.
With us.
The One who leads the stars
Has become a mote in his own cosmos.
And one thing I know,
As I look into your face –
That nothing so small
Can hold the infinite forever.
Grace compressed into flesh
Must soon overflow into
Love unfathomable,
Unreasonable,
Unstoppable.
And the world will never be the same.
For GOD is with us.
